ENGLISH SHORT MAT BOWLING ASSOCIATION

STATEMENT October 2022 – LIVING WITH COVID

Following the Governments move downgrading the Coronavirus Pandemic status, Covid Restrictions have been removed. The Government no longer supply free Covid testing and there is no longer any legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive or keep a 2 metre distance.
The government do however recommend that you stay up to date with your vaccinations and stay at home and avoid contact with others should you develop covid symptoms.
Therefore, effectively, bowling can return to pre-covid normality, but the ESMBA remind counties and clubs for the need to be respectful of players personal feelings as some people may still be cautious in new or crowded environments. It is recommended that clubs and counties continue to ensure good ventilation in your bowling environment and have hand sanitisers available should members wish to use them. Some players may still feel safer wearing a mask and this should be accepted without question as a matter of personal choice.
